Family room makeover
- Concord, CA

A small fun project for a family with a limited budget. The client had no desire to spend more than their limited budget could bear but needed to convert their family room with old carpets and whitewashed walls into a refuge. Keeping in mind their limited resources, we acted as consultants and made recommendations that they could carry out fairly easily and inexpensively. No walls were removed and very little demolition was necessary. Simple moves like replacing the carpet with hardwood flooring, 6" baseboards for more presence, chair rails and a custom fireplace help bring a more formal presence to the room. The upgraded fireplace provides a focal point with neutral colors on the walls to complement their furnishings and help tie the room together.
Sometimes simple moves can do more than large elaborate and lavish designs can.

Gerard Lee, AIA was the project principal and worked closely with the family members to ensure their satisfaction. Small projects are treated with the same thoughtfulness and thoroughness as larger projects. Every project bearing our name is treated with the same care and consideration, after all good service and design should always be paramount when selecting an architect.
